Fatih Dönmez, Head of the Turkish Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, said that Ankara had spoken to Gazprom about delaying some of the payments after the sharp increase in gas prices, and an agreement was reached. It has been reported DEA News.

According to him, after the sharp increase in gas prices in 2022, Turkey negotiated with Gazprom to delay part of the payments, an agreement was reached and relevant negotiations were held.

“This applies to the payment cycle received by us under the coordination of the Ministry of Finance and the Treasury. These are events that can happen in commercial relations and have happened before,” he said.

He stressed that the previously stated $20 billion that the Turkish side promised to pay to the Russian side as a gas delay after the May 14 elections is not true.

According to him, the productivity of the discovered fields is around 100,000 barrels per day.
