Air France, the largest airline in France, urged the French authorities to reduce the number of flights of Chinese airlines to the republic due to friendship with the Russian Federation. Agency reports Bloomberg.
The material states that the leadership of the air carrier suspects that Chinese airlines are using “unfair advantages”, because unlike Europeans, they can fly over the territory of Russia.
According to the agency, Air France is interested in French President Emmanuel Macron’s imposition of taxes or other measures that would create a similar cost base between Air France and Chinese carriers.
“There should be equal conditions. <…> Now there is a competitive distortion to consider,” the article says.
It was noted that Air France operated 32 flights per week to China prior to the coronavirus pandemic and currently operates six one-way flights a week.
