At the end of May 2023, the Moscow government will begin issuing “green” bonds, the purchase of which Russians can invest in urban environmental projects. This was expressed by Vladimir Yefimov, Deputy Mayor for Economic Policy and Property and Land Relations, RIA Novosti reported.

“The volume of biennial bonds offered for the placement will be 2 billion rubles, the coupon income will be paid quarterly. The Vice President said that before the start of the placement on the Finuslugi financial platform of the Moscow Stock Exchange, the bond interest rates will be determined according to the market conditions.

According to Yefimov, the money raised through the issuance of bonds will be used to implement a project to replace diesel buses with electric buses to reduce pollutant and greenhouse gas emissions from road transport.

At the end of November 2022, Ilya Rebrov, Executive Vice President of Economy and Finance of the State Corporation Rosatom, said regarding the upcoming “green bond” issuance.
