Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal announced that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has pledged 1.5 billion euros for restoration this year. The cabinet chief wrote this on Telegram.

He explained that he had discussed these issues with EBRD chief Odile Renaud-Basso. According to him, the bank plans to focus this year on supporting the public and private sectors, in particular supporting small and medium-sized businesses, financing road construction, collaborating with cities and communities, and supporting the energy sector.

“The bank’s pre-planned support portfolio for this year is €1.5 billion,” Shmygal wrote.

He also thanked the EBRD for helping “with Ukraine’s needs in these difficult times”.

Previously at the US State Department reportedthat the country will send $4.9 billion in financial aid to Ukraine in September 2023.

Speaking at the Atlantic Council in Washington, World Bank President David Malpas said Ukraine would need hundreds of billions of dollars to restore the country.
