Lithuanian Minister of Economy and Innovation Aušrine Armonaitė said that his country is ready to export 1 million tons of grain from Ukraine by rail. This was reported by the Lithuanian TV channel. TV3.
After meeting with Polish Minister of Economic Development and Technology Waldemar Buda, the minister said that the grain will be transported via Poland and then reach the world market via the sea port of Klaipeda.
“Lithuania is ready to assist Ukraine in organizing grain exports outside the EU. Our transportation infrastructure allows 1 million tons of grain to be transported.”
It is stated that the difference in track width can be a problem when transporting grain. It is wide in Ukraine and Lithuania and narrow in Poland.
