The U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) has determined that the Russian Federation has potentially circumvented the oil price ceiling set by the West. It has been reported DEA News.
The publication states that we are talking about the alleged use of ports in the Pacific Ocean by the Russian side. The administration underlines that the oil exported through these can be bought and sold above the predetermined ceiling.
OFAC added that this process can be carried out with the support of American individuals.
The agency stressed that Americans “may not be aware that they are providing covert services with Russian oil purchased above the ceiling” because non-US persons involved in these transactions may also provide incomplete or incorrect documentation.
Former Prosecutor General of the European Union Laura Quevesi reportedThe EU prosecutor’s office needs legal grounds to prosecute those it believes helped circumvent sanctions against the Russian Federation.
