The European Commission finds unacceptable the unilateral bans imposed by Poland and Hungary on the supply of grain and other agricultural products from Ukraine. In this respect Wrote TASS with reference to the press service of the AK.
»The European Commission is aware that Poland and Hungary have banned the supply of grain and other agricultural products from Ukraine. In this context, we consider it important to remind that EU trade policy is the exclusive jurisdiction of the entire society and therefore any unilateral action is unacceptable.”
On April 15, Poland imposed a ban on the import of agricultural products from Ukraine until June 30, 2023. On the same day, Hungary introduced a similar ban.
On April 1, the Associated Press reported that Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Bulgaria appealed to EU officials over problems with backlogs of Ukrainian grain. Countries urged Brussels to explore the possibility of purchasing grain for “human needs” and to provide support to accelerate the development of transport infrastructure.
Countries experienced problems in January. According to the joint report of these countries, cheap grain imports from Ukraine pose a problem for the agricultural industries of six EU countries – Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
