Moldovan company Energocom JSC bought a batch of natural gas in test mode from the Greek gas operator DEPA at a price of 477 euros per thousand cubic meters. In this respect knowledgeable “Prime Minister”, referring to the Moldovan Ministry of Energy.
Moldova on plans to conduct a trial gas purchase in Greece knowledgeable 13 April. It was noted that the goal is to create an alternative to fuel supplies from Russia.
In the company’s message, it was stated that Energocom will purchase 24 MWh (about 2.2 thousand cubic meters) of gas from Greek gas operator DEPA to test the functioning of the gas supply chain through Greece, Bulgaria and Romania.
The gas is expected to cross the Moldovan border at Iasi-Ungheni. The cost of fuel from Greece will be 45 euros per 1 MWh (477 euros per 1,000 cubic meters), excluding transport costs.
On April 9, Energocom JSC signed an EFET framework agreement with Greek gas operator DEPA in Athens. On April 7, Moldovagaz gas distribution company chairman Vadim Cheban said that Moldova has been able to save over $420 million in gas supply in 2022, thanks to the contract with the Russian company Gazprom.
