EaP Director from Russia: World Bank shows ‘pessimistic trend’ towards Russian economy

Roman Marshavin, World Bank Group Executive Director of the Russian Federation and Syria, said the EaP showed a “pessimistic bias” in assessing the prospects for the development of the Russian economy. It has been reported DEA News.

According to him, the term “optimism bias” is common among bank economists, which means the desire to overestimate the pace of development in the long run.

“Although the bank, it seems, shows more of a pessimistic bias in assessing the growth rates of the Russian economy,” said Marshavin.

He emphasized that Russian experts are trying to follow such trends and establish a dialogue with the economists of the international organization.
