Naftogaz: Court in The Hague orders Russia to pay Ukraine $5 billion for assets in Crimea

The Arbitration Court at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague has ordered Russia to pay $5 billion in compensation to Naftogaz Ukrainy for the damages it suffered in Crimea. Naftogaz announced this on its page on social networks.

The report states that “the Russian Federation is obliged to pay such compensation to Naftogaz for damage caused by the seizure of assets in Crimea.”

It was stated that the court decision was made on April 12.

“We lost our drilling rigs, gas pipelines, our own fleet and administrative buildings,” Naftogaz said.

They stated that if Moscow does not comply with the court order, Naftogaz can begin the process of admission to the recognition and execution of the decision on the territory of the states where Russian assets are located.

The arbitration court in The Hague began hearings on February 21 to determine the amount of compensation to Naftogaz for the “opportunity to use smuggled assets in Crimea”. Kiev demanded 10 billion dollars from Moscow.
