The contract for the supply of Russian gas to Moldova can be terminated at any time. This was stated by the country’s Minister of Energy, Viktor Parlikov, reports TASS.
“Legally, the gas supply contract is valid, but both parties partially violated their obligations under this contract,” said the head of the Ministry of Energy.
In particular, the Moldovan authorities fulfilled their debt repayment obligations due last year and the Russian side has reduced the volume of gas transmission.
Parlikov noted that violations give each party the right to unilaterally terminate the contract.
However, the minister stressed that the republic is interested in maintaining the contract with Gazprom for the purpose of energy security.
Previously reportedThanks to the contract with the Russian company Gazprom, Moldova was able to save over $420 million in gas supplies in 2022.
