RIA Novosti: Russia ranked 50th in the list of countries with the highest inflation in February

According to the results of February this year, Russia ranked 50th among the countries with the highest inflation in the world, with an indicator of 10.99%. The most significant consumer price increase was recorded in Lebanon (190%), informs RIA Novosti, according to its own calculations.

“The highest annual inflation was recorded in Lebanon (190%) and Argentina (102.5%). Zimbabwe, which was the leader of the rating with 230% inflation a month ago, dropped to third place from 92.3% in February. <….> In general, in February, half of the world’s countries recorded rates of price increases of more than 8.7%, this includes Russia, which ranks 50th with an indicator of 10.99%, ”says the material.

Sudan (63.3%) and Suriname (58%) were among the top five countries with the highest inflation in the last month of winter this year. The note states that Russia’s neighbors in the rating are Mauritius (11%) and Austria (10.9%).

April 8, Kristalina Georgieva, head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) statedthat the global economy at the moment is still in a vulnerable position. One of the reasons for this is the aggressive attempts of leading central banks to reduce inflation with the help of a sharp increase in key rates.
