Russians do most of their shopping from supermarkets on weekends, when 70% of payments are made with cards. In this respect informs RIA Novosti cites data from a study by Russian Standard Bank.
“Traditionally, on Saturdays and Sundays, spending with a debit card mostly includes “supermarkets”, “cafes and fast food”, “clothing and shoe stores”, “cosmetics stores”, “hairdressers and beauty salons”. Analysts noted that supermarkets are the absolute leader in this fifth in terms of weekend purchases.
The publication noted that a trip to the supermarket with cards costs an average of 776 rubles. At the same time, a year ago this figure was at the level of 832 rubles. At the same time, the decrease in the average amount of going to the supermarket can be explained by the serious increase in the popularity of online delivery of goods in Russia.
Experts pointed out that the average purchase price on Saturdays and Sundays increased the most in the clothing and footwear category, with the average check increasing by 42% in the first quarter, reaching 7,585 rubles.
