In the first quarter of this year, the number of out-of-court bankruptcy cases of Russians increased by 95.9% compared to the same period last year, reaching 2510. This is evidenced by the data of the Unified Federal Bankruptcy Information Register Fedresurs received by socialbites.ca.
Fedresurs head Aleksey Yukhnin noted the growing interest in the free debt relief procedure.
“Citizens are becoming more aware of their features, so the rate of rejected applications decreases,” Yukhnin said.
Commenting on the registry data, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, Ilya Torosov, noted that the out-of-court bankruptcy procedure has become more understandable for Russians.
“It’s as simple as possible, it runs through MFC, and it’s also free. Unlike a judicial procedure, an out-of-court procedure can only be initiated by the citizen himself, ”said Torosov.
According to him, work is now underway to expand the out-of-court bankruptcy mechanism on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“It is too early to talk about exact estimates. It is important to make the procedure even more accessible, primarily for pensioners and other socially vulnerable categories of citizens,” Torosov stressed.
According to Fedresurs, in the period of out-of-court bankruptcy from September 2020 to March 2023, 16,075 such procedures were initiated, with a total debt of 5.55 billion rubles. With a debt of 3.82 billion rubles, 10942 transactions were completed, the proportion of lawsuits filed was 52%.
