HSE: More than a quarter of Russian companies surveyed were able to use sanctions for development

28% of companies in Russia managed to use the sanctions imposed by Western countries to create new opportunities. In this respect Wrote TASS agency, referring to the content of the HSE report “Adaptation of Russian Industrial Companies to Sanctions: First Steps and Prospects”.

The survey was conducted in August-November 2022 among heads of enterprises in the manufacturing industry in 9 federal districts and 71 regions of Russia.

“More than a quarter (28%) of Russian companies were able to exploit new opportunities: almost one in ten companies (9%) managed to increase their share in traditional markets, 7% of companies found niches for new products, 6% entered new markets, % 4 – attracted qualified staff,” the report states.

Researchers also named factors that soften the impact of restrictions: cooperation with major partner countries and cooperation within global value chains of goods.

In the second half of March, Reuters, based on data from seven sources WroteThat Russian companies have become more active in asking their Kazakh partners for help to circumvent Western sanctions and import necessary goods.
