To date, Moldova has not yet paid for the services of international companies that oversee the republic’s historic debt to the Russian energy company, which has held Gazprom for six months. Words from Viktor Parlikov, head of the local Ministry of Energy (Minenergo) opens radio station Radio Moldova.
We are talking about the need to pay for the services of the Norwegian company Wikborg Rein Advokatfirma and the British Forensic Risk Alliance & Co. It was these organizations that the Moldovan authorities were attracted to oversee the republic’s debt to Gazprom. Initially, the inspection period was supposed to end at the beginning of this year, but was later extended until April.
“The team is working, but we have an internal procedural difficulty with payment. The money was allocated in the previous budget year until it was signed, until the previous year’s budget execution was exhausted. <….> I can say that these companies have not been paid yet,” he said.
According to him, the government will need a “new decision” to fully pay off the debt. Against this background, the Moldovan authorities can not rush foreign experts to submit the results of the inspection. Under these circumstances, the final decision on the loan is likely to be made in May this year.
