Sinologist Vavilov: Putin and Xi Jinping created new conditions for economic relations between Russia and China

Chinese President Xi Jinping, together with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during his last visit to Moscow on March 20-22, created the conditions for a new stage in the intensive development of economic relations between the two countries. Such an opinion in an interview with TASS expression Russian sinologist-publisher Nikolai Vavilov.

“Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow shows an unprecedented level of trust between Russia and China,” he said. “Undoubtedly, the new configuration of international relations will create the conditions for a qualitatively new stage in the development of Russian-Chinese economic relations,” said the Sinologist.

In his view, the Chinese President, during his visit to Russia, “reaffirmed the determination of the United States to pursue a sovereign foreign policy in the face of attempts to limit China’s development and the growth of its influence in the world.”

Against this background, the expert announced a dynamic expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and China. Especially in the last two years, Russia-China trade has increased from $107 billion in 2020 to $190 last year, Vavilov said.
