FT: China launches investigation against US company Micron Technology

According to the newspaper’s report, Chinese authorities have launched an investigation against the American memory chip company Micron Technology. Finance Times.

The newspaper writes that the check was made for “national security” reasons, in response to Washington’s growing restrictions on China’s access to semiconductor technologies.

“The China Cyberspace Administration said it will consider importing Micron products to maintain national security, ensure the security of information infrastructure, and prevent risks from product problems,” the FT said.

According to the newspaper, Micron Technology is the largest memory chip maker in America. Following the announcement of the investigation, the company’s shares in the US fell 4 percent.
