The high demand for Russian gas from China is explained by the division of the Chinese world into friendly and hostile. In this scenario, the country loses some of its gas supply. About this RIA Novosti stated Maria Belova, director of research at Vygon Consulting.
“Assuming that at some point the outside world will be divided into friendly and hostile for the country, then about 30 billion cubic meters of LNG purchased by China may be at risk,” Belova said.
According to him, the Chinese gas market is now quite stable. However, the country is likely to look at its balance sheet through the prism of possible deficits from other sources. Therefore, gas demand from Russia increased earlier than expected.
He added that the new gas pipeline will not emerge immediately, but that it will take at least four years from the signing of the agreement to the first fuel delivery with Power of Siberia 2.
25 March RIA Novosti with reference to experts in the gas industry reportedThe conclusion of an agreement between Russia and China on the project of the main gas pipeline “Power of Siberia 2” may be delayed due to Beijing’s expectation of attractive prices for Russian gas.
