Russian Transmashholding will supply 120 passenger electric trains (1,920 cars) worth more than $1.7 billion to India. Soon the parties should sign a contract. It is not specified when this will happen.
From the tender document read by the publication, it is understood that the production will be established at Latura and Indian Railways factories in Chennai, India, while the winner of the tender has to modernize the production facilities and warehouse. The contract also provides for the maintenance of the wagons for 35 years.
