Currently, the Central Bank (CB) leadership is not considering the possibility of linking individuals to the anti-money laundering platform Know Your Customer. In this respect informs The newspaper Vedomosti cited the words of a representative of the currency regulator.
The Know Your Customer anti-money laundering platform has been operating in the Russian domestic market since July 1, 2022. Currently, all Russian banks are subordinate to it. The main task of the platform is to assess the degree of risk of legal entities and entrepreneurs. The platform works on the principle of the so-called “traffic light”, where the “red” zone is the most dangerous, “yellow” indicates the need for a credit institution to draw close attention to the customer, and “green”. the region is considered the safest, the article states.
“Although the platform has demonstrated its effectiveness in six months of operation, it is currently out of the question to involve individuals in its environment. Such a decision can only be taken after a wide public discussion,” the representative of the Central Bank said.
