Alcohol producers in Russia started to increase their whiskey production in the first months of 2023. In this respect writer “Kommersant”, which refers to the data of market participants.
According to the results of the first two months of 2023, Beluga Group (Fox & Dogs brand), Stellar Group (Mancatcher, Steersman) and Ladoga (Fowler’s) became Russia’s largest whiskey producer. According to these estimates, Beluga Group produced 219 thousand deciliters of whiskey in the January-February 2023 period, an increase of 58% compared to the same period of the previous year. Stellar Group has tripled the bottling of the beverage to 103,000 deciliters each year, while Ladoga has increased it more than tenfold to 102,000 deciliters.
According to the publication, the whiskey category in Russia was the most affected category among all spirits after the launch of a special operation in Ukraine. Last year, whiskey supply in Russia fell 52% to 1.81 million decaliters. At the same time, the situation in the market began to improve after popular brands were imported into the country through parallel imports.
Analysts think that the demand for local brands in Russia will depend on the quality of the drink. Therefore, it is important to pay attention to the establishment of the distillate importing process. If that doesn’t happen, buyers will switch from whiskey to vodka, bitters and brandy.
