“Kommersant”: Ukraine doubles oil transit tariff from Russia to Eastern Europe

Ukrainian pipeline operator Ukrtransnafta will double the tariff for the transit of Russian oil through Ukraine via the Druzhba main oil pipeline from April 1. newspaper reports “Kommersant”citing sources.

According to the publication, the Ukrainian side wants to receive €27.2 per tonne for oil flowing through Druzhba towards Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

If the toll increase is approved, it will be the second since the beginning of 2023. Previously, Kiev increased the tariff by 18.3% to €13.6 per tonne, according to the publication.

According to Kommersant, it remains the most profitable option for Eastern Europe among alternatives within the EU, despite the rising cost of transiting Russian raw materials. The newspaper states that European countries accepted the conditions of Kiev for this reason.
