Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that the issue of Russia’s withdrawal from the World Trade Organization (WTO) should be handled carefully. He announced this in his speech in the State Duma with an annual report, reports TASS.
“Withdrawal from the WTO – good or bad? For ten years, we’ve actually been making the decisions we want. “Today, if you will, we actually have not fulfilled these obligations for a long time,” said Mishustin.
He added that Russia has imposed counter-sanctions and banned imports. However, the issue of withdrawing from the WTO should be approached by evaluating the benefits that this decision will bring to the Russian Federation.
“We need to analyze. I want to say that this is not an obvious case. We need to look and think,” said the Russian Prime Minister.
Former Russian Foreign Ministry judicial possible withdrawal of the country from the WTO as a “gift to the enemies”. According to the ministry, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs opposes the country’s withdrawal from the World Trade Organization (WTO), but this issue is discussed in connection with the initiatives of lawmakers.
