Russia, whose coal exports fell despite all restrictions due to European Union (EU) sanctions, doubled its tax revenues from the sector to 360 billion rubles in 2022 and continued to supply “dirty fuel”. Especially after last year’s results, Germany bought about 13 million tons of Russian coal. Although this figure is 37% lower than in 2021, Russia remained the largest supplier.
The publication pointed out that in 2022 Germany purchased a total of 44.4 million tons of coal, which is 8% less than the 2021 value. At the same time, the second place after Russia in terms of supply was the USA, where exports increased by 32%. It closes the top three Australia, which supplied 6.3 million tons of coal to Germany.
According to the publication, Russia delivered 20.1 million tons of coal to India last year, which is many times over the deliveries of 6.6 million tons a year ago. Deliveries to China rose quarter-on-quarter to 67.3 million tons.
