School desks and chairs made of chipboard can be replaced with high-quality solid wood counterparts. About this RBC declaration Ruslan Semenyuk, chairman of the board of Luzales LLC, the new owner of two businesses formerly owned by the Swedish group Ingka (owner of the IKEA furniture and household goods chain and the Mega shopping center).

“I would like to see solid wood desks and chairs in our schools, in all our schools and kindergartens. Although school furniture made of chipboard is affordable at the moment, it becomes unusable in a short time.”

According to him, as the edges of furniture made from compressed recycling crumble, a student might drop their backpack on the floor or sit down and tear something. Therefore, there are ideas for the manufacture of solid wood furniture, which in the future will be competitive for educational institutions.

He added that in the future, enterprises will produce shelves, tables, beds, dressers and other interior items, as before. However, the line-up will change outwardly, as IKEA designs remain on it. Therefore, architectural offices will be involved in the development of new furniture lines.

16 March at the Furniture and Woodworking Business Association (AMDPR) declarationThat the tax on wooden and upholstered furniture and mattresses from Europe could be increased from 8.5-12% to 50% in the form of retaliatory sanctions against hostile countries.
