The US uses supertankers to transport oil to Europe because ships carrying smaller volumes are booked to transport oil from Russia, writes Bloomberg.
According to the agency, supertankers currently carry around 60% of the oil between the US and Europe, but were carrying 37% in 2022. Traders charter small vessels to transport Russian oil to Asia.

Bloomberg reports that Estonia, Lithuania and Poland have proposed lowering the ceiling price for oil from Russia from $60 to $51.45 a barrel. These countries require that the threshold be set at 5% below market prices.
