“As we have said many times, the Secretary-General focuses on ensuring continuity and integrity between the Russian Federation and the memorandum of understanding on food, as well as the agreement that is critical to world food security,” Dujarric said.
The representative of the UN Secretary-General declined to answer the question of whether the United Nations had received a formal notice from Russia to extend the grain agreement by only 60 days, and whether the world organization had agreed to these conditions.
“It would be more correct to ask Russia what the Russian Federation said,” he said.
Earlier, the German Cabinet representative, Christiane Hoffmann, said that the German government’s welcomes Russia is ready to extend the grain deal and is urging the country to extend it for more than 60 days.
