New anti-turbine restrictions introduced by the United States at the end of February may complicate the operation of Russia’s gas export pipelines. In this respect writer Kommersant, citing the source.

It turned out that the US sanctions package, which was put into effect at the end of February, includes a ban on the supply of all gas turbines and spare parts to the Russian Federation and could cause problems in important export projects of Russia. The new rules prohibit the export, re-export, direct or indirect sale or supply of gas turbines from the United States to anyone located in the Russian Federation.

One of the publication’s sources stated that expanding control over supply will concern industrial gas turbines. At the same time, some interlocutors of the publication noted that before the restrictions, point deliveries of spare parts and gas turbines were made from the United States to Russia. Now domestic companies are looking for new suppliers in China and Iran and purchasing spare parts from the secondary market.

Analysts thought that the bulk of the power units worked on Western gas turbine equipment. Therefore, the separation of foreign suppliers has complicated their services, so manufacturing companies are forced to conserve the resource of this equipment. In contrast, Russian thermal power plants operate mainly on steam power technology, without gas turbines. But some power units with turbines from the USA may encounter certain difficulties.

March 10 newspaper Die Welt WroteGermany has decided to purchase pipes from Nord Stream 2 AG for the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. According to the publication, the German government is negotiating the purchase of 3,000 pipes.
