The Russian Ministry of Health has proposed expanding the experiment on drugs to eliminate the possibility of selling expired products through labeling. This is stated in the draft report presented by the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko to President Vladimir Putin. TASS.
According to the draft document, it seems appropriate to include such drugs in a test conducted on the territory of the country from 1 February 2023 “with the aim of preventing the sale of expired medicinal products”, excluding the “technical feasibility of certain sales”. categories of goods subject to mandatory labeling by means of identification, in case of illegal circulation or expiration date.
The experiment, which will run through August 1 this year, includes certain dairy products, including those for children, bottled drinking and mineral water, beer and a range of low-alcohol beverages. Products that are not allowed for sale are tracked using the state system “Honest Mark” marking tools. Smoking, chewing and snuff tobacco from tobacco and nicotine-containing products, hookah tobacco, tobacco-free smoking mixtures for hookahs and electronic tobacco heating systems are participating in the experiment.
The agency is ready to conduct such an experiment if a decision is made, as the agency has been briefed at the Center for Advanced Technology Development (CRPT).
They noted that in total last year, the Chestny Znak system automatically registered a small part of violations related to the sale of expired drugs in pharmacies – about 80 thousand packages per month throughout Russia.
“This is less than 1% of total sales. Nevertheless, this problem needs to be addressed, as disruptions continue in the market and expired drugs can be dangerous to the health of Russians,” he said.
