Rosstat has recorded a historically low level of poverty in Russia – 10.5%, or 15.3 million people, living on cash incomes below the poverty line, reports DEA News.
According to the agency, in 2021 the figure was higher – about 16 million people in Russia lived below the poverty line. According to Rosstat, poverty reduction is associated with the implementation of targeted social assistance, increasing social payments, as well as salaries, pensions and other types of income.
The level of the “poverty line” is determined at the level of the last calculated value of the subsistence minimum, which rises every three months in line with inflation. At the end of the year it amounted to 13,545 rubles.
At the same time, Rosstat noted that statistics do not yet provide data on the DPR, LPR and Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
