Reuters: Germany froze 5.25 billion euros for Russian businessmen under sanctions

Germany gradually promotes sanctions against Russian businessmen and institutions, writes Reuters.

Following the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, Germany froze around €5.25 billion of assets belonging to entrepreneurs under sanctions, according to the German Ministry of Finance.

Previously, the US Attorney General’s learns Legality of auction houses selling paintings to businessmen from Russia and Ukraine.

We are talking about works of art sold to billionaires from the Russian Federation Roman Abramovich, Viktor Vekselberg, Andriy Melnichenko and Ukrainian businessman Igor Kolomoisky.

The agency asked auction houses to provide data on transactions with oligarchs.

FinCen, the US Treasury’s Financial Crimes Agency, also reportedly recorded suspicious transactions by Russian entrepreneurs in January and February last year, shortly before the start of Russia’s military action in Ukraine.
