Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov spoke in an interview about the consequences of introducing anti-Russian sanctions. RT. According to the Russian minister, the sanctions harmed not only the Russian economy but also world trade.

“The principles of open world trading have been severely affected. “These are the results of over a year and these results will have a long-term character for world trade as a whole,” said Siluanov.

He added that the freezing of Russian foreign exchange reserves in the US and EU is a particularly sensitive blow for Russia. At the same time, the sanctions caused a decrease in trust in the settlement system and became a gross violation of the principle of openness of world trade.

However, the minister stressed that Russia has been able to adapt to a number of restrictions and enter new markets by reorienting itself fairly quickly from the West to the East. In addition, the sanctions caused energy prices to rise in the countries that imposed them, and the volume of energy production increased in Russia.
