The head of the European Union’s foreign affairs, Josep Borrell, in March urged the countries of the community to allocate 1 billion euros from the European Peace Fund for the supply of weapons requested by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. TASSPosting to AFP.

It is understood from the EU document that the head of the department called for funds to be allocated for the purchase of 155 mm artillery shells for Kiev. This proposal will be presented for discussion by EU defense ministers at an informal meeting in Stockholm on 7 March.

Borrell proposes to give community countries “a favorable cost recovery rate of up to 90% if ammunition is delivered before a certain date”. Drawing attention to the importance of joint purchases for the continuation of arms supply to Ukraine, the President pointed out that the arms stocks in EU countries should be renewed.
