From the beginning of March, French distributors will start buying 10% more products from food producers at the current price. About it in the broadcast of the radio station France Information said Jacques Cressel, president of the French Federation of Trade and Distributors.
“From the beginning of March we will have to pay about 10% more for big-brand products,” Kressel said.
According to him, the prices of food, some medicines, perfumes and hygiene products will increase. At the same time, according to the head of the organization, representatives of big brands are demanding that food prices be increased by up to 16%.
This will continue until the summer. Then the food sources will begin to replenish. During the broadcast, radio stations noted that a 10 percent increase in prices would add to the inflation rate.
Earlier on February 28, the press service of the French National Institute of Statistics (Insee) published Preliminary data show that in February 2023, consumer inflation in the republic rose to 6.2% compared to 6% in January.
