The tenth EU sanctions package against Russia includes the major Russian banks – Alfa-Bank, Rosbank and Tinkoff. New sanctions published in the official gazette magazine European Union.
As a justification, the document states that these banks are located in sectors of the economy that allegedly “provide a significant source of income to the government of the Russian Federation.”
Alfa-Bank and Rosbank were previously included on US sanctions lists. Tinkoff had never been sanctioned before.
The credit institutions themselves reported that, since the banks are preparing for such a development of events, falling under sanctions should not somehow affect their work. It was noted that they will continue to serve customers despite the restrictions.
