The nuclear industry and diamonds will not be included in the European Union’s (EU) new sanctions package against Russia. In this respect writer Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia.
The publication noted that countries such as Hungary, France, Bulgaria and Belgium oppose restrictions on the nuclear industry or diamond business in Russia. However, the Baltic states are trying to expand their initiatives in the EU to impose sanctions on Russian Rosatom.
According to the newspaper, new trade sanctions between the EU and Russia may affect some electronic components for missiles, drones and helicopters. At the same time, the imposition of sanctions is possible only with the approval of all EU member states. At the same time, Hungary became a particular obstacle to the final adoption of restrictions, demanding that some names be removed from the sanctions list.

The publication noted that the origin of a diamond is easy to identify once it has received a certificate under the Kimberley Process (designed to prevent the sale of diamonds used to finance military conflicts). Later, however, the direction of the diamond supply becomes difficult to monitor.
