Tabachniki suggested that regulators strengthen the responsibility of marketplaces for the sale of illegal cigarettes and electronic cigarettes. The newspaper was told “News” at the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
“Marketplaces are the largest channel for the online sale of tobacco and nicotine-containing products, which are expressly prohibited by law,” cigarette maker JTI Russia told Izvestia.
As a result, penalties for online trading for marketplaces should be tightened. According to cigarette manufacturer JTI Russia, it should be penalized up to pre-trial blocking of the site, as provided for alcohol.
Currently, sellers will face a fine of 50 thousand rubles if they ignore the current ban. for legal entities, and for individuals – up to 3 thousand rubles.
In addition, Rospotrebnadzor supported initiatives aimed at combating the circulation of illegal tobacco and its products. The Ministry of Agriculture has recommended blocking domains, websites or individual pages that offer such products.
