Vladimir Bengin, Director of the Cyber Security Department of the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, asked banks not to use instant messaging programs to provide services to customers. It has been reported TASS.

“Exactly what not to do: Directly, please do not provide services via instant messengers. I have a very big call to the banks,” Bengin emphasized.

According to him, statistics show that around 65-80% of all fraudulent calls are made through WhatsApp.

Also, as Bengin adds, scammers call from Russian numbers, and when this is not possible, they will be from foreign numbers.

“Let’s not accustom citizens to the fact that a bank can officially come to them and offer some services through instant messengers,” said the director of the department’s cybersecurity office.

It was known that there were scammers before stealing Russians money on sites with fake access to the ChatGPT neural network. In December 2022, only three domains containing ChatGPT references were registered in RuNet, in January there were already 17 domains.
