The share of national currency swaps in bilateral trade between Russia and China doubled in 2022. This was expressed by the Russian Ambassador to Beijing, Igor Morgulov, Wrote agency RIA Novosti.

“Today, we estimate that the share of the use of national currencies in bilateral trade, based on last year’s results, is about 50 percent, that is, about half of our trade today is in yuan and rubles,” he said.

The diplomat described the pace of trade in national currencies as “very impressive”. Particular attention was paid to the transition to payments in national currencies for the supply of certain energy sources. “This is a very important decision, given the share of energy resources in bilateral trade,” said Morgulov.

The ambassador added that the demand for the yuan in the Russian stock market has increased.
