Central Bank Deputy Governor German Zubarev, in an interview with the Izvestia newspaper reportedthat the so-called “dropper database” contains tens of thousands of Russian accounts. This is a database that records cases and tries to make remittances without the bank customer’s consent to it.

“We are talking about tens of thousands,” said Zubarev.

The vice-president of the Central Bank explained that it cannot be claimed that so many fraudsters are currently operating in Russia.

“A scammer may have several accounts to use to withdraw money stolen from the Russians. Also, when the victim contacts his bank with a statement about the theft of money, the data on the dropper account appears in the database of the Central Bank, ”explained Zubarev.

According to him, now cases of incorrect entry into the database are calculated in units, and in such cases, a mechanism is provided for the rapid extraction of information from the database. Zubarev gave an example: if a buyer of goods in the market is not satisfied, he wants to return his money and writes an application to the bank, this does not mean that the bank automatically recognizes the seller’s account as fraudulent.

Previously at the Central Bank wanted It is the responsibility of credit institutions to suspend access to bank cards and internet banking of “suspicious” account holders or those who have dropped their accounts.
