The Roadmap signed between Uzbekistan and Gazprom on January 24 provides the passage of gas from Russia through the Central Asia-Central natural gas pipeline passing through the territories of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The publication also noted that the parties have not yet approved the main conditions for gas supply to the country.
Gazprom itself has refused to disclose whether gas supplies will go to China or simply to Central Asia. It is also known that Uzbekistan is facing an energy crisis due to the severe cold this winter. Turkmenistan suspended its fuel supply, causing major power outages and heating cuts in Uzbekistan.
Market experts think that Gazprom will likely increase fuel supplies to China in the future, and the markets of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are not the final destination. At the same time, at the initial stage, deliveries can be about 6-7 billion cubic meters per year.
