Second liquefied natural gas terminal opened in Germany

A liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal opened near Lubmin, Germany, the second regasification unit of its kind in Germany, Wrote German magazine Der Spiegel.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz attended the opening ceremony of the terminal. Economy and Climate Protection Minister Robert Habek did not attend the opening because he was ill. The date of receipt of the first delivery was not specified.

Two more LNG regasification units are expected to appear in the country in the next two months.

The total capacity of the four stations is estimated at 33 billion cubic meters of gas per year. For comparison, around 60 billion cubic meters of gas was supplied from the Nord Stream gas pipeline in 2021.
