The publication noted that the American ConocoPhillips, who left Venezuela after the assets were nationalized in 2007, is negotiating the sale of Venezuelan oil to the United States to repay about $10 billion of Caracas.

According to the newspaper, ConocoPhillips wants to load, transport and sell Venezuelan oil on behalf of Venezuelan PDVSA. Then the American company would be able to return its funds and meet its energy needs.

The article added that with the possible conclusion of a deal, Venezuela will emerge in 2019 from the trade blockade caused by US sanctions on the country’s oil industry.
