According to the news of Reuters, 331 votes were cast for the adoption of the bill, while 97 votes were cast against it.
Representative Cathy McMorris Rogers said the US government should not hand over the keys to the energy future to the Chinese Communist Party. According to him, the Joe Biden administration is “wasting” the strategic reserves of the United States.
The issue of US oil exports to China became a rallying point for Republicans last year when Biden announced he sold 180 million barrels of SPR to spur oil prices, which rose during the Ukraine crisis, Reuters reported.
The bill was developed at the initiative of the opposition Republican Party in the United States, which won a majority in the 118th House of Representatives following the November midterm elections.
Biden said in October that almost half of the US strategic oil reserves were empty. At the same time, Biden announced his intention to replenish his raw material reserves “when the price drops to $70.”
