Control will be strengthened within the scope of strengthening sanctions against Russia under the leadership of the EU and France. The ministry noted that the “concentration of a substantial amount of luxury properties” is on the Cote d’Azur.

The audit showed that 60% of real estate agents were not aware of or did not comply with the sanctions. In particular, some institutions did not check whether the names of customers were on the list of assets that should be frozen.

Formerly Italy’s Financial Guard froze Property of Russian citizens, which the European Union had previously sanctioned for the situation in Ukraine.

It was noted that the relevant list includes an object worth € 300,000 in the state of Lecco by Galina Pumpyanskaya, wife of businessman Dmitry Pumpyansky, as well as a statue belonging to Alexei Kuzmichev, co-founder of Alfa Group, for € 230,000.
