Aliyev said, “According to the latest updated data, the gross domestic product of Azerbaijan has reached 134 billion manats, or about 80 billion dollars. The country’s foreign trade turnover has exceeded 50 billion dollars, and the foreign trade surplus has reached 25 billion dollars.”

According to him, after the last 12 months of results, the total foreign debt of the republic fell below 7 billion dollars and fell from 17% to 9.5% of GDP last year. As a result of positive indicators, Azerbaijan became an “economically independent country”.

“We are economically independent and now we can start borrowing again from international financial institutions if we want, in fact we have already started. Because it can be said that the projects carried out with both the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development are already about to be completed.
