In Kamchatka, the food and processing industry is estimated to grow to 8 billion by 2022 – thanks to budget injections and modernization of production, the development of these industries was possible, reports TASS.

“Despite the strongest economic pressure from Western countries, farmers of the Kamchatka Region managed not only to survive in 2022, but also to increase their production volumes. Minister of Agriculture of the Kamchatka Region Vyacheslav Chernysh said that last year’s agricultural production index was 108.7 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, which is 2.5 percent above the average index of the Russian Federation.

He added that the main task of the department is to lower the prices of bread, one of the main products in the region, which is consistently more expensive than in other regions of Russia. In addition, farms were established to grow a dairy, a poultry house of 12 million eggs per year, as well as frost-resistant potato varieties.
