Kazakh authorities are discussing with the Russian side the possible gasification of some parts of the country. This was expressed by the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, Bolat Akçulakov, transmits TASS.
Answering a question about the negotiations with the Russian Federation on the gasification of the northern and eastern regions, Akchulakov said, “At the moment we are still negotiating.”
According to him, several options for gasification are currently being evaluated. One option is a gas pipeline through Barnaul, where the pipe will go to the north of Kazakhstan. It can also be used as a transit natural gas pipeline, but negotiations are ongoing. At the same time, there are no exact calculations for the project yet.
He added that according to the initial plans, a natural gas pipeline of 10 billion cubic meters per year is being considered. But if there is interest in providing additional volumes to the south, a more powerful gas pipeline will be required, at least 20 billion cubic meters per year. However, this will still be discussed.
