In December 2022, the price of gas in Europe fell 48% compared to November, amounting to about $845 per thousand cubic meters. About informs TASS refers to the data of the London ICE exchange and its own calculations.
On November 30, gas futures traded at around $1,558 per 1,000 cubic metres. The publication then noted that on December 30, the trade closed at $845, which is 48% lower than the figure at the end of the previous month.
According to TASS, the average gas price in November was $1,262 per 1,000 cubic meters, and $1,272 in December. In the first half of December, the average indicators remained almost unchanged due to the cold weather and high gas prices.
The agency added that due to the very hot weather coming to the European region at the end of December, the gas price decreased and therefore the average temperature was above normal. Because of this, gas extraction from underground storage facilities has decreased sharply and injection volumes have risen to record levels.
